Free Online Classifieds = Free Back Links

A lot of people will say that Online Classifieds are a
complete waste of time.

I've been using the Free Classifieds in my online
directory at http://everydaybusinessonline.com/adsites.htm
for many years. I certainly would NOT say it was a waste
of time!

When I check my website stats, I see traffic coming
from these free classifieds sites. Plus, posting ads
also gives you free one-way back links to your site.

There are many Free Classifieds sites that have
high PRs. I have been adding the PR of these sites to the
listings in my Free Classifieds Directory.

keep your ads running all the time and it's free to post.

Both these sites offer great, very affordable premium
packages to help you get more exposure for your ads.
I have been using the premium services on both these
sites for years. They are very effective!

Before you go placing any ads on the online classifieds,
please read their posting rules and do not abuse these
free services!

The same goes with forums. There are many forums that
will allow you to post free ads in the proper category. This
gives you free back links as well.

I have been having a lot of problems with people posting
junk ads in the free advertising section of my Forum, and as
well as in the "Online Marketing Discussions" category that
clearly states that ads are not allowed in that section.

If it continues, I may just simply delete the forum.

And that's the scary thing. If other webmasters get tired of
people abusing their free services, then they may all simply
remove them as well. Then everyone will HAVE to pay
for all their online advertising.

So PLEASE people, be responsible marketers! And a big
thanks to those marketers who ARE responsible!

Did your Page Rank rise or fall?

Hello Everyone,

First of all I want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all
our U.S. friends. Enjoy your day tomorrow, remember
to give thanks for all that you have and don't get too
stuffed on the turkey and all the trimmings!

Now, onto the main topic of this issue. Have you noticed
the changes in a lot of websites' Google Page Rank?

I have been reading some articles about this. Apparently
many sites are now standing at a lower page rank than
before.

It seems Google has lowered the page ranks of sites
that sell one way links and even sites that they suspect
are selling one way links, even if they actually are not.

I have said over and over that getting one way links
does not seem like a good idea to me. That is why I
no longer exchange links with sites that want to do
three way links, which results in getting a one way
link.

How it works is they want you to post their link on your
site, then they post your link on a completely different
site, that they supposedly own. That makes it appear
that you have a one way link without reciprocating. It is
to fool the search engines into thinking their (or your) site
is so important that someone just linked to it without asking
to return the favour.

Most of the sites that have been asking me for these
three-way (one-way) reciprocal links try to provide
a link back to my site from a link farm or directory
that they don't even own. A little sneaky I would say,
but I have caught onto them and removed all these
types of links from my links directory.

During Google's update to the page ranks, my site
went up in rank. The update before this one, it
went down. So then I went to Google and read
up on their guidelines. I discovered that they do
not like these deceptive means of trying to get a
better page rank or listing. I then started deleting out
all three-way (one-way) links from my Links
Directory.

So many marketers try to come up with ways to trick
the search engines. I say, why not just be responsible
and follow the search engines rules? It's much safer
that way and you don't risk harming your website
and online business.

Speaking of being responsible, this also applies
to posting in forums and free classifieds sites.

I have had to delete so much junk out of my Online
Marketing forum since I started it several months ago.
I started keeping a log of it in the "General Online
Marketing Discussions" section.

I do have a section for free advertising on the forum,
however some still misuse the forum and post ads and
junk in the "General Online Marketing Discussions"
section.

Some who do post their ads in the "Free Advertising"
section are posting ads that are nothing but a bunch of
keywords. I am going to start deleting those too, as
the search engines frown upon keyword stuffing and
this could cause harm to my forum.

So, please people, be responsible. Using deceptive means
to market your business not only hurts yourself, it also
gives the whole internet marketing community a bad
name.

Quick note about the downtime

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that
Everydaybusinessonline.com has been down since
late Saturday evening.

I found out yesterday morning that the server move and
upgrades, which I thought happened the previous weekend...
did not.

I checked my webhost's site and the server move was in
progress. They never even let me know that they had
canceled the weekend before and changed it to this
weekend!

My site did come back intermittently yesterday, but is
completely down again today.

Updates on my webhost's site say that they ran into
technical difficulties but they hope to have everything up
and running again today.

The new forum is also down right now as it's on the same
server as my website.
